When I saw this Keeneland starting gate photograph, I knew I had to paint it! There’s just something about the energy of the horses, the symmetry of the starting gate, and man-made vs nature contrast that drew me to it. I experimented with the cool color palette and limited detail, more so than previous paintings, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out.
