Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I commission a painting?
I take on a very limited amount of commissons (custom paintings) each year. Please visit the Commissions page for more information.
2. can you paint my wedding/event live?
I’d love to! Please review the information and FAQs on my website here and then once you’re ready to move forward, you can submit a booking request.
3. do you have a showroom where I can see pieces in person?
My studio is in my home, so I do not currently have a showroom or studio visiting hours. If you would like to set up a studio visit with me to see paintings in person, please email me and we can set something up. You can also sign up for my newsletter to learn about upcoming shows and events when you can view my work in person. You can also see some of my prints at the Keeneland Shop and the Keeneland Mercantile shop in downtown Lexington.
3. what are your recommendations for framing?
We offer frames with all original paintings, but not currently for prints. Our canvas prints are ready to hang without a frame, but if you would like to get your canvas print framed, I suggest taking it to your local frame shop which should have a good selection of canvas frames that work with the 1.5” depth of the gallery wrapped canvas prints. I highly suggest getting all paper prints matted and framed. My favorite online custom framer is Framebridge. They make it easy and affordable to custom frame art and deliver it to you for free (Here are instructions on how to have your print order shipped directly to Framebridge). If you are a DIY kind of person, look for the next standard size up from the size of the print (most of my prints are standard sizes, but there are a few that are not and will need custom frames). For instance, look for a 16x20 inch frame with a pre-cut mat opening for an 12x16 inch print. Most online and local frame retailers will have tips and suggestions to help you decide on the right frame size for your art.
4. When will my order ship?
We will usually have orders completed and delivered within 5 to 10 business days. Shipping carriers may be changed depending on stock levels and shipping locations. Factors that may delay delivery of an order within that time frame may include weather, order size, equipment malfunctions, or disaster. If you have not received your order within 10 business days, please contact us for an order status check.
5. Can I pick up my order from your studio?
Unless specified on the product page, we do not currently offer local pick up. We do not keep a stock of prints in-house and the majority of orders are drop shipped directly from the printing company that we outsource to.
6. What is your return/exchange policy?
All sales are final, but we want you to be happy with your purchase! Please contact us with any questions or concerns.
Notice of damaged merchandise must be submitted to Stephanie Hilen Art in writing through our contact page within 72 hours upon documented delivery date by the shipping courier. Damaged prints may need to be picked up by the shipping carrier for inspection before refunds or replacements can be submitted. Once you have contacted Stephanie Hilen Art, we will work with you our printers to give you more information on the return process. Please note Stephanie Hilen Art is not responsible for damage accrued to prints after they have been delivered and caused by the customer or a third party after delivery.
7. Can I order wholesale?
Yes! If you’re interested in my wholesale product and price list, please submit the request here.
8. can I order a custom print size?
It depends on the print. Please contact us to request the custom size. Pricing will vary.
9. Do you ship internationally?
International orders are not currently setup on our website but are possible. Please contact us.
10. Who actually owns the artwork?
I retain all rights to all artwork I create. This includes the rights to the image of sold and commissioned original paintings. I retain the right to make reproductions of any and all artwork I create unless the collector has also purchased the full or partial rights to the artwork. To discuss purchasing the rights, contact us. The collector or buyer may not reproduce the artwork in any way without written permission. If the artwork ends up being reproduced in a magazine or other media I only ask for credit. When you purchase an original painting, you, the collector, have the right to display the artwork in your home or business but the artwork may not be resold or reproduced without my written permission.
